
At LADIES BRUNCH 2023 hosted by Broadcast Journalist/ News Presenter GhOne, Serwaa Amihere, the key topics for discussion were self development, mental health, tech skills and productivity. Guest speakers Toyin Dania (Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization (WEDO) / Coach and Mentor), Professor Lydia Aziato (Vice Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences, UHAS) and Dr. Eliza Ampofo (Clinical Psychologist at 37 Military Hospital and Police Hospital) shared their thoughts and experiences on these topics.
Professor Lydia Aziatopopularly known as ‘Prof. 1’ in the Midwifery fraternity urged attendees to cultivate interest for lifelong learning and be proactive in looking for opportunities to learn something new everyday. Additionally, she shared her journey as a Nurse and Teaching Fellow to her position as a Vice Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS).

The next speaker, Dr. Eliza Ampofo, a Clinical psychologist spoke extensively on mental health and how to balance mental health with career. In Ghanaian society, it is not so common for people to visit therapists or even talk about mental health. Dr. Eliza advised attendees to seek help from professionals and direct friends who might be showing signs of depression to speak up and ask for help. According to her, we must constantly check if we are at risk with our mental state.
Regarding tech and business development, Toyin Dania posed the question: Would you be a part of the 4th industrial revolution? Toyin shared why it is important for entrepreneurs to be kept updated with new technologies and acquire tech skills.
According to the CEO of Blacksandscreatives and NOB foundation Ghana, Naana Boateng, the ladies brunch will be held every once in a year to educate young entrepreneurs and there will be online seminars.
She added that there will be an accumulated data of attendees where members will be divided into categories according to their entrepreneurial interests and then there will be subsidy training so individuals can learn handiwork in order for them to cater and provide for themselves and family.
